In July, we will not only be celebrating the opening of our brand new library building –but also our 70th year of service in the community! As part of the festivities, we are undertaking the task of compiling a collection of works by local residents (past and current) to publish as “Turning the Page”. Sales of this book will benefit the Friends of the Library. More information on purchasing this book will be available closer to it’s release date.
Starting April 1st, we will be accepting submissions via e-mail ([email protected]). Submissions should include: Name(s) of author(s), age, length or time period of residency and your submission’s category.
Writers can submit 1 entry per category: Poetry/Micro Fiction, Short Fiction, Memoir/Nonfiction.
Basic Guidelines:
1. Submissions from current or past residents of the Cadott Community only, please.
2. One submission per person, per category (Poetry/Micro Fiction, Short Fiction, Memoir/Nonfiction)
3. Inspirational Themes include: Community, Libraries, and Small-town Wisconsin Life.
4. Submissions may be edited for formatting, typographical error, and general length.
Category Guidelines:
1. Poetry/Micro Fiction: No longer than 500 words. No Concrete/Visual Poetry
2. Short Fiction: Maximum 8000 words. Refer to our inspirational themes. Literary best, but please no horror, gore, or “spice”.
3. Memior/NonFiction: Maximum 5000 words. Refer to our inspirational themes. Local/Cadott remembrances are encouraged.
The Library will also be hosting Write-Ins on Tuesday, April 7th, 14th, and 28th at 4 PM. Writers are encouraged to stop in and work on their pieces, type them, or get tech help in submitting them. Library staff is also available to help with tech difficulties on Tuesday Mornings, during At the Table, beginning at 11 AM.
