As many of you know, we are in dire need of a new library. The issues with our current building are not unknown, and this isn’t surprising. We are not ADA accessible. Our floors have been described as “mushy”. We are not energy efficient. We have limited space for materials, not to mention space to hold events in. We cannot offer comfortable nor private study or meeting space. We literally do not have enough room for adequate recommended seating for our service population.
So, what are we doing about it? First, we’re asking you to take a quick survey to help us access what YOU, our population, wants to see from us. This survey includes questions about when and how you currently use the library (or why you don’t!) and what services and space offerings you like us to have in the future.
This survey is just the first important step toward making this happen. In late September or early October we will be setting up Focus Groups and Listening Sessions with members of the Library and Village Boards, as well as community members.
We know it’s going to be a long, hard road. Money is an issue. That is also not a secret. So, we’re going to be doing a lot of Fundraising with our Friends group. We’re going to be campaigning for donors both large and small –no amount is too little or too much. We’re going to be doing grant writing. So. Much. Grant. Writing.
If you want to help us on this journey in any way, please include your contact information at the end of the survey or you can contact me directly at the library by calling 715-289-4950 or by e-mailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for our time, and we hope that you’re as exciting about these developments as we are!
